Now that y ou are aware of what the absolute top rated staple guns are, let’s move on over to our staple gun reviews. In here, we will talk about the good and bad sides of the staple guns.
Stanley TRE550Z – Compatible With Nails
One of the most trusted brands out there when it comes to any sort of power tool is Stanley. They are known for making a wide range of products for various DIY and also professional projects. They are trusted by construction enthusiasts and professional contractors alike and make some of the best construction staplers.
Well, all those people can’t be wrong! This is a great first electric staple gun to start off our list. Also, this isn’t just a staple gun – it also can be used with brad nails! So that’s a huge bonus if you have projects around the house that need something a bit more heavy-duty.
This also features a unique dual power level so you can either use it in a high or low setting that corresponds to using it on a hard or soft material.
It includes an eight-foot power cord which isn’ super long, but long enough for simple projects. Although we recommend purchasing an extension cord just to save yourself many headaches later on down the line.
The Stanley TRE550Z accepts Stanley Sharpshooter TRA700 Series or Arrow T-50 heavy duty staples and 1/2-, 9/16- and 5/8-inch brads.
This is an extremely heavy-duty stapler and you’ll be able to feel the power from your very first use.
This electric staple gun also features a Quick-jam-clear mechanism so you won’t have to spend valuable time trying to unjam your gun. This stapler gets perfectly flush against any surface so you’re able to squeeze it into the tightest of corners, allowing you to staple virtually everywhere.
There’s also a low-brad indicator window so you’ll able to easily see exactly when you’ll need to reload.
All in all, this is a powerful, durable stapler from a trusted company that allows you to use both staples and brad nails. It’s ergonomically designed with contoured grips as well which makes it comfortable to use even for the longest periods of time. Two more great things we need to mention.
First, Stanley actually offers a lifetime warranty on this stapler so if anything goes wrong for any reason whatsoever, you can reach out to them and they’ll make it right. And they have exceptional customer service. Secondly – this will only cost you around $30. This may not be perfect for commercial settings but for a majority of projects around the house, this will more than do the job.
Ryobi P360 – Great Battery-Powered Option
Ryobi is essentially the king of battery-powered tools.
If you can think of a power tool or machine needed to take care of your house, Ryobi most likely makes a battery-powered version of it. They make leaf blowers, lawnmowers, staple guns, chainsaws – literally anything. For that reason, we really trust them when it comes to electric and battery-powered items.
The Ryobi P360 is no exception.
This is a battery-powered staple gun that easily has the power of pneumatic staple gun.
This electric staple gun from Ryobi drives 3/8 inch to 1 1/2 inch narrow crown staples. There’s a convenient adjustment dial that’s super easy to get to so you can easily regulate air pressure for optimum results. Another feature that a lot of staple guns (electric or not) are usually lacking is some sort of indicator or window so you can see exactly when you’re going to run out of staples.
Ryobi features a low-staple indicator right on the side making it easy to know exactly when you’ll need to recharge.
Probably the best part about using an electric or battery-powered staple gun is that you don’t have to lug around a heavy and LOUD air compressor.
With this one, you simply pop the battery in and you’re good to go. With the Ryobi P360, you’re not compromising with power either.
This is efficient, accurate, and you’ll think that this is being powered by an air compressor.
Since it is battery-powered, it is going to be a bit pricier than pneumatic staple guns and also a lot of the other electric staple guns on our list. This specific model will run you about $99 and while that in and of itself isn’t that bad, we have to point out that this does not come with a battery or a charger. So make sure to order those separately.
If you already own a Ryobi product, however (depending on which one), you should be able to use a battery from there.
If you need to buy a new one, however, expect it to run you about $50.
We love this staple gun. It’s energy-efficient, it looks good, and it has a clear indicator to let you know when you’re running out of staples. It allows you to be portable as well as powerful. While a single charge should last you a decent amount of time (staple guns don’t take up a ton of energy), if you are using this on a work site as a professional all day long, you might want to consider a corded gun.
The last thing you want to do is run out of battery on a client site. Aside from that, however, we absolutely love this staple gun and it is definitely a top contender for best electric staple gun 2022.
Roberts Model 10-600 – Comes With Carrying Case
Up next we have an electric staple gun from a brand that’s not quite as well known as the previous two, but it’s still just as heavy-duty and strong. Just look at it, it looks like it packs a real punch. A nice little bonus as well is that the Roberts Model 10-600 actually comes with a carrying case!
So if you’re traveling a lot to/from a construction site, this is a great way to protect it.
While the first electric staple gun disappointed us a bit with the length of the power cord, Roberts steps up the game and includes a 12-foot long power cord!
Now, this won’t necessarily work for every project or use, but 12 feet should be a pretty good length for a good majority of users. It also holds up to 85 staples in the sleeve which doesn’t sound like much, but that’s actually about the standard in the world of electric staple guns so it makes us happy.
If you’re going to be stapling all day, then the design of the handle is going to be very important to you. Luckily the handle on this electric stapler is ergonomically designed so it’s very easy and very comfortable to use for long periods of time. It’s not only comfortable but it’s also non-slip and it feels very sturdy in your hand.
Trust us, this is something that you want when you’re holding a device that shoots flying staples out of it. The last thing you want is an accidental slip.
This powerful stapler is perfect for securing a wide variety of flooring and yes, that includes carpeting.
This thing really is that powerful. The molded plastic carrying case is also very handy because it leaves room for not only the stapler but also some extra staples and plenty of room for a few extra smaller tools if you have them.
All in all, this is a powerful staple gun that’s easy to use for small projects around the house or even if you’re doing projects on-site for a client. It has a long cord, it’s easy to reload, and it’s extremely precise. Roberts may not be as well-known as some of the other big names but it’s just as powerful, if not even more powerful.
This has quickly shot to the top of our list and is definitely a top contender for the best electric staple gun of 2022. But you’ll have to wait until the end to see how it stacks up against the rest!
Duo-Fast 1016055 – Extremely Efficient
Now that’s one word that you want to hear when talking about improvement projects – fast! And fast this stapler is. It uses 5418D staples and is one of the more powerful ones on the market. You can easily use this on a carpet and in fact, it’s specifically marketed towards being able to be used on carpet.
So no stress about whether or not it’s actually going to go through and stay.
It also features a nickel-plated magazine that absolutely will not collect lint or dirt which actually helps it not get jammed as easily.
The Duo-Fast 1016055 also features a much longer nose than a lot of other electric staple guns on the market. This allows it to get through really heavy, shaggy carpet with ease.
his is something that’s often a real struggle with other electric staple guns but not for the Duo-Fast. You’ll be zipping through even the toughest of your carpet installations with ease and agility.
As an added bonus, this even comes with a case and also 5000 staples to get you started. That’s actually a pretty decent deal and those 5000 staples will get you through a decent number of small projects or possibly an entire carpet installation, depending on the size of the project of course.
The added carrying case also doesn’t hurt. It may seem like a frivolous extra but it helps to protect the staple gun while you’re transporting it which will ultimately lead to it lasting longer and saving you money in the long run. It’s a win-win.
Staple guns that are geared to do a lot of stapling through a carpet tend to have a bit of a problem getting jammed but that is absolutely not the case with the Duo-Fast 1016055. In fact, it barely ever jams and you will most likely make it through the whole case of the 5000 staples it comes with without once experiencing it jam. And even if you do, it’s super easy on the 1016055 to fix the jam and you’ll be back on your way to putting that carpet in no time.
We absolutely love this electric staple gun. It is 100% commercial grade and if you’re a professional carpet installer, you could seriously use this with no problem. But alas, with professional-grade quality comes professional-grade prices, especially with power tools. This will run you over $200 so it is a good chunk of change.
If you’re going to be using this for clients, however, or if you just have a lot of staple-heavy projects coming up – we absolutely cannot recommend this electric staple gun enough. It’ll make you much more productive and you might even start enjoying your time using this! Imagine that! Highly recommend.
Makita XTS01Z – Very Easy To Use
Sometimes when we review products, there is one or a couple of products that are the clear front-runners. Of course, every time, what you end up choosing will depend on your exact needs. Maybe you don’t necessarily need the ‘best’ on the market but rather something budget-friendly or have a specific need.
However, in this case, every staple gun so far has been a strong contender for the best electric staple gun. And Makita keeps the ball rolling with the Makita XTS01Z. This electric staple gun is a force to be reckoned with.
This has easy to use depth control that allows you to easily and quickly adjust exactly how deep you want the staples to go. There’s a little knob that you can easily turn and there ya go, you are now stapling to a different depth. There’s also a spring-loaded mechanism inside that dispenses the staples, which allows for a more compact tool with less weight. And they mean it!
The previous comparable gun from Duo-Fast was seven pounds and this one is only 4.8 – a pretty significant drop.
Makita also includes a convenient window on the magazine so you can easily monitor exactly how many staples you have left. Don’t take this for granted because poorly designed staple guns don’t include this and it can be unbelievably frustrating having to guess exactly when you’ll need to replace the staples.
This machine is also ergonomically designed so it’s very comfortable to hold and feels good in your hands.
The grip is soft and it allows for easy control and for you to apply even pressure for every single staple. Having a comfortable, soft-grip is often underrated. It really does allow you to focus and be more accurate and more efficient, which is exactly what this Makita stapler allows you to do.
This stapler is also versatile and is specifically engineered for a wide range of tasks including drywall, roofing, furniture upholstery, and utility installation. This is a particularly good staple gun for upholstery.
Whether you’re a professional contractor or an avid re-upholsterer, this is the electric staple gun for you. This is battery powered (again, battery not included) but allows you to put through quite a few staples on a single charge. Depending on exactly how fast you can go and what project you’re doing, you can easily get over 1000 staples consistently on a single charge.
Again, since this is a quasi-professional level it is going to cost you a bit more. This will cost you around $200 and while it is a bit pricey, we believe this is easily worth every penny. We cannot recommend this electric staple gun from Makita enough.
Paslode 900078NT – Durable and Sturdy
Alright, the last staple gun to grace our list is from Paslode with the Paslode 900078NT. This is… heavy duty to say the least. This is battery-powered, but do not let that fool you. This is easily the most heavy-duty electric staple gun on our list and possibly out on the market. Yes, even when compared to pneumatic staple guns.
It truly is that powerful and feels that sturdy.
This is easy to get going straight out of the box as it is cordless. Just toss in the battery and you’ll be good to go.
This is extremely versatile in its use and is able to drive anywhere from 3/4” to 2” staples. There’s also a quick clear feature to give you quick access to the nose when you need it. Yes, this is battery-powered but this will easily last the length of just about any job you need to do. We were quite frankly, kind of shocked at how long you can go on a single charge!
You can easily and consistently staple 4000+ staples on a single charge.
This is easily enough for most jobs and if not, it’s enough to do a good amount before lunch when you can throw it on the charger and you’ll be good to go again right after.
Even though you will indeed be stapling up a storm, the Paslode 900078NT barely ever jams.
You’ll be able to put in staple after staple without any worry of this jamming. And on the rare occasion that it does jam, you’re able to quickly and easily fix it in under a minute and get back to work. All you have to do is press the quick-clear button and you’re good to go.
You’re also able to easily adjust the depth to which you want your staples to go and adjust whether it’s going into a hard or soft material.
We’ve fallen in love with the Paslode.
This is a stellar electric staple gun that really has none of the usual compromises that come with a battery-powered stapler. You have the power, you have the battery life, and you have the capacity. It’s comfortable to hold and also lightweight so you’ll be able to use this all day with no trouble at all.
Where we stop loving this staple gun is at the price – it will cost you almost $400. So if money is no object or if you’re going to buy this for your business then we give you the green light. If, however, this is primarily going to be used for small and infrequent projects around the house – we say it might be a little overkill and that you can go with something a little less heavy-duty.
Buyer’s Guide
Purchasing an electric staple gun can truly change your life.
Often times when you buy an electric lawnmower or an electric leaf blower, you lose a lot of the power that comes with owning a gas-powered version of those machines. With a staple gun, however, they’re so small and don’t require a ton of energy so you’re able to easily get the same amount of power with an electric staple gun that you would get with a pneumatic staple gun. It truly is a win-win situation in which there is virtually no compromise.
Okay, so there is some compromise.
Electric staple guns do tend to be a bit more expensive.
But that aside – electric staple guns are the way to go. You’ll, of course, want to look out for the main features before just jumping right in and buying one.
Compatible With Nails?
Are you going to be using this exclusively for a staple project or do you want something that’s a little more versatile and can be used with nails as well?
While they aren’t super common they do in fact exist. So if you don’t want to have to purchase two separate machines or like the idea of a two-in-one, then be on the lookout.
We included one that’s compatible with both on our list and we’re sure there are others out there.
Cord v. Cordless
The pros and cons are a bit obvious but we’ll say them anyway.
Obviously having a cordless machine allows you to be 100% portable and versatile. You can run from room to room whenever you need to without ever having to worry. However, you will have to keep an eye on the battery life and if you’re planning on using this all day – you might run out of battery.
With a corded machine, you of course never have to worry about that. You’re limited with where you can go but if the whole project is in one room, then purchasing an extension cord should suffice.
Capacity
While there isn’t too much variation on this from machine to machine, there is a little bit.
The standard magazine will hold 85 staples with some holding up to 100 staples.
That may not seem like a big difference, and it’s not for smaller projects. But for larger projects, that’s 17.6% more staples in your magazine. If you’re on a client site where time is of the essence, that can make you a decent amount more efficient and allow you to finish a job under the scheduled time.
Check out this video if you want to learn more about how to operate an electric staple gun.
Ergonomic Design
This is something that’s important with most tools but an electric staple gun is one of those scenarios where an ergonomic design is particularly important.
You’re going to be holding this for potentially a few hours pressing a button over and over and over and over….. You’re going to want something comfortable, believe us.
If it’s not, it can cause cramps in your hand and also just cause you to slow down and have to take more frequent breaks. Consider how it feels in your hands and whether or not it’s comfortable.
Weight
This plays into the last factor but definitely consider the weight.
The weight can sometimes vary by as much as four pounds and is the main difference between a heavy-duty vs light duty staple gun. This will also matter more or less depending on the project. If you’re going to be doing a carpet, it will matter less as it will constantly be pointed down. If however, you’ll be stapling at eye level or even higher, it can become a bit heavy. Not a make or break factor but definitely something to keep in mind.
Staple Compatibility
Make sure you double-check exactly what kind of staples your machine accepts!
So many times where you just assume it’ll accept one standard kind but in reality, you should’ve purchased one specific type of staple. So if you don’t want to have to go out and purchase special staples for your staple gun, make sure it’s compatible with what you already have.
Conclusion
This was truly a tough call. Just about every single electric staple gun could’ve taken home the title of best electric staple gun of 2022. They were wall truly that good. They were all sturdy, had decent battery life, and were not prone to jamming. This is one of the best batches of products we’ve ever reviewed.
But alas, not everyone can be a winner. There has to be one that beats out the rest. We really had to take into consideration every single aspect in order to make a decision since it was so close. Okay, so the wait is finally over. Any guesses before we reveal the best electric staple gun? If so, guess fast! Because it’s going to happen now!
The best electric staple gun goes to the Makita XTS01Z!
It was a very very close toss-up between the Makita and the Paslode but we had to give it to Makita. The design of this is perfect and makes it super easy and comfortable to use, you get a decent amount of battery life, this thing hardly ever jams, and you can easily see when you need to replace the staples. Where this beat the Paslode though is on price – the Makita is about half the price of the Paslode. And the only thing it had over the Makita was battery life. But we didn’t think it was worth the extra money.
No matter which one you go with, we’re sure you’ll have made a good decision.
These are all excellent electric staple guns that are bound to make you more efficient and more productive
As always, thanks for reading and we hope this made your decision a bit easier! Happy stapling.
